Visualizing Boston's Urban Spaces Using Open Data

I participated in the Berkamn Klein Center for Internet & Society's Spring 2024 research sprint focused on visualizing the urban experience in Boston, co-sponsored by the Museum of Science, Boston; the Brown-RISD Masters in Design Engineering Program; and the Edgelands Institute.

Alongside Harvard and Brown students, I worked in a team of four to create an interactive museum exhibit for the Museum of Science, Boston that related Boston environmental data and city history. From protoyping with accessibility in mind to developing our final display, this project pushed my iteration, design, and development skills. I focused on finding stories from unlikely data sources, including archival photos of Boston and spatial environmental data from Analyze Boston. I was grateful to recieve mentorship by experts in data visualization, exhibit design, and media development.

Technologies used: Figma for prototyping, JS/HTML/CSS and Leaflet for data exploration and development.
